The embattled Governor of Nasarawa state Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has stated that he remain focused and resolute as the Governor in spite of the impeachment notice served him by the state House of Assembly.
He stated this while addressing no fewer 4000 pro-Al-Makura who march in march to shower their encomium on the state Governor who for the first time in ten days is appearing in a public aftermath of the lingering impeachment.
The Governor said he will remain a law abiding citizen even at what he refers as trying moment, Stating that the impeachment process just began,”We will start our own process very soon”He added.
“This Government was the product of the downtrodden and i know you will support this cause to salvage the state from this predicament”.
The Governor in his address restore the lost hope of the people as thousands of supporters hailed the appearance of the Governor .
Is not about hooliganism but about the respect to rule of law if not no lawmaker can come to state Assembly and compel the chief Judge to set up a probe panel.
It was eight days of unabated protest but the present protest is the mother of all protest as protesters cut across the thirteen Local Government were seen carrying placards with inscriptions.
“Leave the Governor alone”
“Our lawmakers are thieves”
“Al-Makura is a messiah”
For the first time since the impeachment saga the embattled Governor appeared in public to address the people on the situation.
Freh fact has emerged that the lingering crisis between the chief executive and the lawmakers was as a result of the action of Al-Makura for dragging some selected members before the anti-graft agencies,The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
The vice chairman north-central zone,Zakari Idde who is a former member of House of Assembly described lawmakers as enemies of progress meant to drag the state backward.
Also the state APC chairman,Philip Shekwor described the action of the members as vindictive whimsical act,He debunked the widely spread rumors that the party paid crowd to protest.
He the people are in support of Good Governance but not rented crowd as speculated by the PDP in the state.
