A traditional ruler from Abia State resident in Enugu State has been apprehended by the Enugu Police command over an alleged six million naira fraud.
The suspect, Chief Kenneth Uga, had obtained the sum of six million, sixty thousand naira from the victim, one Virginus Chukwu under the pretense of supplying Mosquito expellant to him(Chukwu) in 2012.
Chukwu(victim), haven waited with baited breath for the supplies to no avail, reported his ordeal to the Criminal Investigation Department,CID, of Enugu Police command.
The command’s swift response to the victim’s complaint led to the arrest of the traditional ruler.
Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, confirmed the incident in a release he issued to newsmen saying that the suspect will be prosecuted in a timely manner upon the conclusion of investigation.
He however urged the public to be mindful of the antics of criminal elements even as he called for greater synergy between the police and the public in tackling crime in the society.
