The Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has boasted that he has 80% chance of getting the presidential ticket of All Progressive Congress (APC) and would win President Goodluck Jonathan in the general election if the president would contest with him next year.
The Governor made this remark recently at the Orlu Anglican Diocesan Synod Thanksgiving Service held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Achara Umuaka of Imo State.
However, the governor said that because of his good works in Imo State, that majority of Imo people are begging him to rule the state for the second time before going for presidency.
Reacting shortly at the event, the former nation’s minister of Interior, Capt Emmanuel Ihenacho said that he had a better chance of beating Governor Okorocha if the Governor would present himself again for a second term and therefore advised the Governor to continue with his presidential ambition.
‘Governor Okorocha is my friend. He has done a little better than some of the past Governors in Imo State yet he does not have what it takes to give the Imo State a better life. The economy of the state is collapsing. There are no jobs for our youths. However, he has done his bit but if I will contest governorship election with him next year, I will win him because I have a better vision and programme that will dwarf all he has done’. But for now, I am still consulting…’.
Earlier in the event, the bishop of the diocese and Archbishop Emeritus for Owerri Eclessistical Province, Most Rev. Bennett Okoro, commended the former minister and the governor for their various roles to mankind. In recognition, the two personalities were giving ‘Nehemiah Award’ for their various roles in uplifting the society and mankind.
