A governorship aspirant in Abia state on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Dr. Sampson Uchechukwu Ogah has vowed to resign if he could not bring in Julius Berger Construction Company to work in Aba within seven days of being sworn in as governor in 2015.
Ogah who is the Managing Director of Master Energy Oil and Gas, stated this while being hosted by members of the Abia State chapter of the Association of Imo State Indigenous Town Union AT Aba Sports, Aba, said he has a dream to rebuild Abia state.
“I have a dream to rebuild Aba. Even if the state doesn’t have money; once I take over as the governor of this state, give me seven days, I will bring in Julius Berger to work in Abia. One of my major targets is Aba. Once I take over office; quote me, if I fail to bring in Julius Berger within seven day, I will resign. Abia will be a foremost state in Nigeria. Where Gov. Theodore Orji stops, we will start there. You will have so many flyovers in Aba. What I need is for people to pay their taxes.”
He vowed to replicate the efforts of the late Premier of the defunct Eastern Region, Chief Michael Okpara who was able to successfully drive the entire nine states comprising the region; a feat he said has not been surpassed by anybody.
“I will replicate what Michael Okpara did in the former Eastern Region. If you come to my village, you can see what I have done. My people are here; they can testify.”
Earlier, President General, Association of Imo State Indigenous Town Unions, Chief Emeka Diwe had told Ogah that though town unions are not political support groups, they are prepared to partner with any aspirant who have the interest of the people at heart.
He commended Ogah for appreciating the contribution of town unions to the development of Igbo land.
247ureports.com gathered that Ogah who has declared his interest to run for governor in defiance of Gov. Theodore Orji’s avowed promise that power would shift to Ukwa/ Ngwa zone in 2015, has continued consultations among individuals, groups and traditional rulers across Abia South senatorial zone.
