Few months to Nigeria’s general elections, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has boasted that he will defeat President Goodluck Jonathan at the polls if given the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Okorocha made this declaration at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Umuaka in Njaba Local Government Area of the state, venue of the Orlu Diocesan Synod which ended on Tuesday.
According to the Imo Governor, his achievements in the state in the last three years would be enough to enough to unseat the president in the next elections.
He said the only challenge he would have is getting the APC presidential ticket of his party.
Okorocha insisted that he would fix the country the manner he had fixed the state within two years to show Nigerians what their enormous wealth can help them achieve.
The governor had told the people of the state that his coming back for second term or contesting for presidential election would depenp how much contributions the p[eople have been able to make for him.
It will be recalled that Governor Okorocha sometime in the past said he would use his current position as a launch pad, because “I am here to demonstrate my vision and leadership skills.”
Stretching further his desire for the presidential diadem, Okorocha, who had described himself as an unconventional governor said: “If I am going to contest for president in 2015, then my one term ends. If I am going to contest for president in 2019, then it is better to face what I am doing. But the truth is that my ambition to run for the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is not cancelled.”
