Yesterday night [around 1 am] no fewer than 200 unknown gunmen suspected to be insurgents or armed robbers – who drove foreign motorcycles and exotic cars launched an attack on Gwaram local government police station, the sharia court and Unity bank. The gun men reportedly killed seven police men and one civilian guard in the attack.
According to investigation conducted by 247ureports.com reporter, it was gathered that the attackers went away with valuables which are yet to be made public to the press.
The AIG in charge of ‘zone 1’ Alhaji Tambari Yabo Muhammed confirmed the attack – adding that the insurgent men were reported carrying dangerous weapons and bombs.
According to the people around the area, following the time of the attack, they have been hearing sporadic gun shots which lasted till morning around 4am – a situation which forced many families to spend the night outside Gwaram community.
After the incident, as the smoke cleared, police saw blood all over the place but no corpses were discovered. But an abandoned vehicle was left behind at the crime by the gunmen. Police told 247ureports.com, that they suspect that the gunmen may have stolen the vehicle from someone in Bauchi and abandoned it – while stealing another vehicle from Gwaram LGA.
The police explain further that no arrests were made but the “police is still investigating the matter. We know that several people were killed”.
In talking to the member representing Gwaram Yusif Shitu Galambi, he confirmed to 247ureports.com that seven police men were killed and one civilian guards man while many others sustained various degree of injuries.
