The conference serves as one of Governor T. A. Orji’s legacy projects in Abia State. The project was started in February 2013. It is nearing completion. It is marked for possibly commissioning later this year.
The conference center is reported to have a seating capacity of over 3,500. It is said to be the first of its kind in the south east region of Nigeria.
It is projected to a add a needed boost to the local economy of Umuahia and Abia State in general. Already, about four hotels have sprang under construction within the immediate radius of influence of the conference center.
