Christians in Nigeria have been to pray for the country as they joined other Christian faith in the rest of the world to celebrate Easter, a festival marking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Senator Gbemisola Ruqayat Saraki, who stated this in a Easter message signed y her Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Sola Shittu said indeed this is a time that the country needs the prayer of not only the Christian faithful, but the entire Nigerians. She said what the country is going through now require that all religious groups, politicians and everybody that truly loves the country to come together and ensure that Nigeria survives this trying period.
“Nigeria is going through a lot now and what is happening is not peculiar to any part of the country whether in Borno or Lagos. What is important is that we make up our minds to boldly face our challenges”.
According to her, Nigeria is at te threshold of greatness and like a pregnant woman in labour, she is going through a lot of pains and agonies associate with it.
“What this means to each and every one of us is that there is light at the end of this dark tunnel. The pains and agonies of labour may seem too much for us to bear, but it cannot be compared with the bundle of joy that will follow such pains. I am very sure that we will come out of this trial very strong. Many great nations of the world have gone through the same thing and in fact some countries are still going through their own like Nigeria. Peace is very fragile and it is the most expensive commodity in the world now. We must seek peace”, she said. She then calls for mutual understanding among all religious faithful so that Nigeria can get to the Promised Land.
