Two persons, Ugochukwu Daniel and Chibuzo Okoroafor have been arrested by the police in Aba, Abia state for allegedly dispossessing residents of handsets, handbags and pick pocketing at various spots within the city.
247ureports.com gathered that the suspects were arrested at Brass Street by Okigwe road junction, Aba by a Police patrol team led by the Aba Area Commander, Tunde Mobayo, an Assistant Commissioner of Police.
On interrogation, the suspects were said to have named Habibu Mohammed and Lawal Maruwa from Katsina State and Isah Ismaila from Niger Republic who resides at the ‘Ama Hausa’ area along Mosque Street as receivers of the stolen items.
Efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer of the Abia Police Command, Geoffrey Ogbonna, an Assistant Superintendent of Police were unsuccessful as at the time filling this report, but a police source who did not want his name in print confirmed the incident.
He told 247ureports.com that on interrogation, Daniel and Okoroafor confessed to the crime, stressing that efforts are ongoing to arrest fleeing members of the gang.
