Child Defilement: Police Inspector Frees Suspect After Collecting Bribe

A police officer attached to the D2 of the Anambra State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Inspector Clement Aleke is risking sack for allegedly releasing one Kenneth Arinze arrested by Awada Police Division in Anambra State for
defiling a-nine-year-old-girl in the commercial city of Onitsha,

247ureports.com gathered that the police officer got into trouble when he
allegedly collecting an undisclosed amount of money from Kenneth
arrested by police for specializing in defiling minors between the ages of one to ten years old at No 2 Osondu Agwuike Street, Mgbuka-Ugwuagba village Obosi, Idemili North council area of Anambra state.

 

The suspect in his late forties allegedly defiled a 9-year-old Somotochukwu Nwafor (not her real name) who hails from Umuoghara in Ezza North council area of Ebonyi State and had entered into negotiation with the family of the victim on how to resolve the matter before he went to the police to say he was being blackmailed.

 

According to the Coordinator, Child’s Rights International, Mr. Nweke Nweke, shortly after the incident, the suspect had approached the father of the victim who had reported the case at the Social Welfare of Idemili North council area on the possible way of resolving the matter out of court which was still in the process before he went to
secure the services of a lawyer.

“He came to the father of the victim and was begging that the matter
should not be taken to the police or court. But before then, the
father of the victim, Ikechukwu had reported the case to Social
Welfare Department. So during the negotiation and peace building
process, Kenneth went behind everybody to get a lawyer who wrote a
petition against Ikechukwu and the police arrested him for deformation
of character”

He said that the Investigating Police Officer, Inspector Aleke
arrested and allegedly extorted over N150, 000 from the father of the
victim, Mr. Ikechukwu on the ground that the man attempted to compound
felony and allegedly vowed to subdue the defiled case from going to
court

Meanwhile, the suspect had been arrested and detained by the Awada
Police Division before Inspector Aleke came to release him on bail
which did not go down well with the family of the victim who had
approached the International Female Lawyers, FIDA, Anambra state
chapter.
