Abduction Of Chinese: Police Shoot Dead Two Kidnappers In Aba

The Anti Robbery Unit of the Aba Area Police Command, Abia state has shot dead two kidnappers in the city.
 
The late kidnappers, Reuben Okezie and Lekwa Uzor, were alleged to be behind the abduction of a Chinese national, Mrs Tang Bing and Achilefu Okey, said to be a Manager in a Farm belonging to a former Abia state deputy governor, at two locations in Aba, last Sunday.
Police sources hinted that the late kidnappers were taking the police to their den at Iheorji village in Obingwa council area of Abia state when members of their gang ambushed the police.
 
According to the source, the gang fired at the police patrol van, but as the police returned fire, Lekwa and Okezie made to escape but were shot at by the police.
Other members of their gang escaped with bullet wounds as the police over ran the hideout
 
“As we got close to the camp, we were ambushed by other members of the gang. There was exchanged of fire, they shattered our patrol van but we overpowered them and destroyed their camp. The two members tried to escape but were shot at. They died on their way to the hospital,” the source said.
 
247ureports.com gathered that Mrs Bing and Achilefu are yet to be released by the kidnappers. According to a senior police officer at the command who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the police are closing in on the fleeing kidnappers.
 
When contacted, Abia state Police Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna , an Assistant Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the death of the kidnappers, called on hospitals, chemist shops as well as members of the public to report anybody with bullet wounds to the police, assuring that such would be treated with strict confidence.
