Group urges Gov. Chime to run for senatorial seat

IFEANYI EZUGWU,ENUGU.
A non-governmental, socio-political and cultural organization under the auspices of Enugu Unity Forum,EUF, has called on Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State to run for the Enugu-West senatorial zone at the end of the expiration of his tenure following laudable achievements credited to his administration as governor.

The group disclosed this during a consultative session with a patron of the organization, Chief Chinedu Ochinanwata in Enugu over the weekend.

While addressing the gathering, the Chairman of EUF, Mr. Tahill. Ochi said:”Our objective is to foster and engender good governance in the state by actively participating in the process of choosing leaders as well as positive intervention in the governance process.

“We draw our inspiration from the impressive good governance template as laid down by Governor Chime and urge him to seek a place at the senate after his tenure.

He listed some impressive achievements of the governor which endeared him to the organization to include; brand-new government house under construction, good road networks,systematic rehabilitation of hospitals, financial grants/autonomy to various council areas,ongoing massive water reticulation network, gigantic secretariat complex, provision of patrol vans to the Police etc.

Continuing, the EUF leader expressed satisfaction over the governor’s decision to zone his successor Enugu-North senatorial district which he declared will en throne peace, justice, equity and fair-play in the polity of Enugu state.

“We are determined to work assiduously towards installing the next governor from Enugu-North senatorial zone through our wide grassroot branches, consultations with varied opinion leaders to evolve a peer-reviewed template that will x-ray worth candidates for elective offices in Enugu State” Mr. Ochi revealed.
