The All Progressives Congress, APC, has announced that it will not participate in the proposed local government council election in the state scheduled to hold on January 11 2014.

The party has subsequently directed all APC councillorship, chairmanship and all its party members to boycott the election.

Announcing the decision, yesterday, after a crucial meeting of the party caucus, local government aspirants and other stakeholders of the party in Awka, the APC 2013 governorship candidate and leader of the party in the state, Dr. Chris Ngige said the proposed election is already skewed and fundamentally faulty.

Ngige who was accompanied by other party officials in the state said that one of the reasons for decision to boycott the poll is that the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, ASIEC, is not yet sure of which of the three paraded voters registers it will use in the election.

APC also alleged that it is of the view that ASIEC has already planned a charade election since the voters register has neither been displayed nor given to political parties to identify.

The party said it reviewed the sham November 16, 2013 governorship election in the state and praised Anambra electorates for their restraint in the shoddy election.

“All local government aspirants both councillors and chairmen are therefore directed not to participate in the state election. The party has henceforth withdrawn in all processes leading to the election,” said Ngige in a press briefing after the meeting.
