The Department of Mass Communication of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), radio station, UNIZIK94.1fm recently emerged the best campus radio station in Nigeria during a competion that was hotly contested by over twenty universities across the country.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Boniface Egboka attributed the feat to the doggedness of the director of the station, Professor Kate Omenugha and the station manager, Mrs Ify Obi who he said have been managing the little resources available to them judiciously to make the university proud. He expressed optimism that the radio station would emerge the best in the on-going Nigeria broadcast media award which the station has also been nominated for.Nine crew members of the fm radio station were presented with various awards for their outstanding contributions to the performance of the radio station.Announcing the awards, Professor Omenugha said that all the crew members had worked hard but the awards were for those who performed exceptionally. the awards included the best presenter, best news caster in English, best news producer, best reporter, best news caster in Igbo and the best DJ, among others.Professor Omenugha assured that the station would sustain its steady growth with more innovations.
