The Nkwelle-Ogidi community in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state has taken the lead in employment and job creation in the country in support of the rural transformation/development programme of the present Federal government.

President of the Nkwelle-Ogidi Community Development Union, Chief Maurice Ebo told journalists that it was gratifying that the community is playing key role in the call for synergy with the Federal, state and local governments in rural development, women/youth empowerment, widowhood support, poverty alleviation and skill acquisition/impartation, as well as providing a round-the-clock security for citizens among many social development tools, made by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The regent of Ogidi community, Chief Emmanuel Okeke also charged them to strengthen its security network, building on the crack team already on ground. He thanked

Chief Ebo who is also the national President of the Fishfarm Estate Developers Association, admitted that their mission was to get every able bodied person in the community gainfully employed, improve quality of lives/revenue, hence directly and indirectly tackle unemployment and anti-social conducts by youths and idle hands.

Ebo’s spoke during the community’s congress where his executive was successfully re-elected for another term of three years, disclosed that his executive, buoyed by massive people’s popular support was committed to building roads within the community, provision of electricity transformers, well reticulated boreholes, security gates and street lights.

The community leader in his acceptance speech noted that so far it has become customary for widows in the community to collect welfare packages at Easter/Christmas, pop-corn machines, and hairdressing/barbing salons, as part of poverty alleviation. He also disclosed commencement of youth empowerment through provision of commuter buses, Keke-NAPEP, welding equipment, barbing salons, while others would be trained in aqua-culture, business centre management and cash.
