Abia State governor, Chief Theodore Orji has visited the Abia state University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) where the surviving pupils of Glorious International Academy, Ogbor Hill, Aba are receiving medical attention.
He also commiserated with the parents and guardians of the 7 pupils who lost their lives after a tipper truck crashed into their classroom.
The governor who was led by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of ABSUTH, Dr. Uwa Iweha was taken round the Pediatrics wards of the hospital were some of the pupils are receiving medical attention.
Orji, who described the incident as unfortunate, directed the management of the hospital to send the medical bills of the pupils to him after they have completed the treatment of the children.
According to him, he has directed the proprietor of the school, The Apostolic Church to rebuild the fallen fence immediately and relocate the classroom attached to the school without delay.
Expressing gratitude to the governor for the visit, the CMD, Iweha said some of the pupils that sustained minor injuries were discharged last night after they were assessed and confirmed to be in stable condition.
He said that the pupils were responding positively to treatment, stressing that the only critical case among the victims was a year old boy that had a broken bone on the leg. Iweha added that others who sustained head injuries would be made to undergo Computerized Thermography (CT) scan to ascertain the level of damage on their skull.
A parent whose child was one of the victims, simply identified Madam Juliet expressed gratitude to the governor for accepting to settle the hospital bills.
