Kaduna-State-Governor-Mukhtar-Ramalan-Yero-600x450
The likely names of those to make commissioners list in the proposed cabinet of Gov Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna state that appeared in the Daily Trust newspaper Monday, November 4th 2013 page 8 look stranger than fiction. I want to believe for now that it is a list that is not true. When our late Gov Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa died, the present Governor Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero is on record to have pronounced to the whole State, the Nation and the world at large that his new administration is a continuation of Yakowa’s legacy. Whereas Yakowa showed more love and care to the Northern than the Southern Part of the State. The reverse is the case in the present dispensation So far; some of us have refrained from commenting on the slow motion of the State government praying that we will see rapid transformation both interms of human and infrastructural development taking place in Kaduna state. This we assumed, is because the governor of the state His Excellency Alhai (Dr) Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has age on his side and the high expectations are that he will excel. However, so far the score card is anything but impressive.

The names that are likely to make the commissioners’ list go further to prove the political intrigues and manipulative script that the government has been playing since May, 2013. We have seen the speaker of the House of Assembly and its leadership impeached, the Cabinet inherited from late Gov. Yakowa first reshuffled and after same few months sacked. The new list shows a gross imbalance especially where it concerns’ Zones 3. Granted that the government in Sir Kashim House is a PDP government, does it warrant it to be so insensitive to the feelings of the populace of Southern Kaduna? How can a man and a woman who are the same father and mother make the list as seen in Jema’a and Sanga LGAS. The most humiliated people are the Bajju people where a lady with no political value and unknown among her people be shortlisted to represent such a big ethnic group? Why would a minority settler Mohammed Abdurahman from Kagarko LGA make such a list in a Koro dominated local Government Area as Kagarko? In a State of 23 LGAS, the Gov Alhaji (Dr) Mukhtar Ramalan Yero’s Government feels Christians should have 9 commissioners while Muslims take up 14 slots. Our appointed representatives are not only handpicked form Abuja without any input from the stakeholders but merit and self worth are sacrificed on personal selfish aggrandizement. A man who was a Minister in 1999-2000 and dropped is again nominated over 13 years on to represent Southern Kaduna. He has even ensured his Personal Assistant makes the Commissioner’s list. The array of qualified and youthful people in Southern Kaduna are crying out for justice and a chance to serve their State and father land. This one man’s show and selectivity is hurting our people feelings and should be redressed.

I called on the people of Sothern Kaduna to stand up and fight for their rights as we can no longer remain docile while a cabal uses medieval and stone age tactics to impose on us unqualified and non patriotic representatives’. It is our zone that gives the State the electoral votes that has sustained PDP in Kaduna State since 1999, yet we are treated as serbs. We either arise now and say No to imposition or watch in silence as the worse is yet to come
