Igbo leaders of thought have thrown a challenge to the outgoing Governor of Anambra state, Mr Peter Obi, to tell the people of Anambra state and indeed all Nigerians what really transpired between him and the late Ikemba Nnewi and ‘Ezeigbogburugburu’ Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu during his second term bid for the governorship seat of Anambra state

In their separate submissions to newsmen in Awka, the Anambra State Capital over the weekend, Sir John Kennedy Osuagwu, Dr Barth Eze, Chief Damien Offor, and Lady Ngozi Njanma proclaimed that the Anambra State governor’s silence on the issue, over three weeks after some very respected traditional rulers from Agulu, the governor’s home town alerted the world on the agreement they had with Ojukwu, over governor Peter Obi’s successor, leaves much to be desired on the credibility of the governor as a true Igbo son and governor of a progressive Igbo state like Anambra.

“If the late Ikemba Nnewi had actually withdrawn his support from Emeka Etiaba whom he had anointed at Awka to succeed Mr Obi then, on the grounds of this agreement he had with Agulu people and Obi for his second term bid with a proviso that Obi should be succeded, at the end of his second term by an Nnewi son to serve at least as a mark of respect for his (Ikemba’s) toil and travails for Ndigbo, then the governor has no alternative than to obey this last wish of Ojukwu “ they affirmed.

Dr Barth Eze who hails from Anambra North Senatorial zone described governor Peter Obi’s seemingly new love for the zone as a smokescreen and cover for his real intentions. Hear him, “Obi has no love for the people of Anambra north senatorial zone. His current naked dance in the sun for Anambra north is a sham and cover for his actual intentions. His intentions are not hidden, nobody is a child. We know that he wants to protect his huge investment in Orient Oil Refinery that is sited in our area and this is why he wants a stooge to sit as the State Governor to protect his interest. And why must his successor be Obiano his second in command his company NEXT INT. LTD and Fidelity Bank Plc. Is Anambra State government only for the staff of Fidelity Bank Plc and NEXT INT. LTD? No wonder he rubbished eminent Anambrarians like, Prof. Charles Soludo and others in a sham APGA Primary. And that money he invested in Orient Oil Refinery is it not Anambra people’s money, why can’t he let go”.

They described Ojukwu’s plan for rotation of leadership in the state as the way to go for enduring peace to assail the state, and urged the people of the state to disregard Mr Peter Obi’s current antics.

It will be recalled that the late Ikemba Nnewi Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu had in his agreement with Obi and Agulu people as revealed by eminent citizens of the town, said any Nnewi son that took over from Governor Obi as agreed should convene a meeting of all the town Union Presidents, traditional rulers, leaders of all political parties operating in Anambra state and opinion molders at Ojukwu’s residence to deliberate on the best way to share out political positions for peace to reign in the state.
