The spiritual head of Ombatse, Baba Alakyo has shunned the formal invitation by the paramount ruler of Eggon nation, Aren Eggon,Bala Angbazo. The ongoing Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by the Government of Nasarawa to proffer solution into the killings of security personnel and other matters.
The commission, since commencement, has received 22 memorandum with over 30 witnesses from across the length and breadth of the state.
The monarch of Nasarawa Eggon had assured the commission the appearance of the chief priest of Ombatse to give testimony over the allegations leveled against his group over the mass murder of security agents and attacks on other communities since November last year.
In spite of the tight security beefed up along Shendam road and the premises of Chief Magistrate Court 2, the chief priest and the legal Adviser to the proscribed Ombatse militia, Zakari Alumaga were not present at the commission.
The spiritual head of Ombatse who was expected to appear by 10a.m. was not in the court room as at press time (3:40 pm). It would be recalled that the chairman of the commission, Rtd Justice Joseph Gbadeyin had assured that security of the chief priest was guarantee.
It is believed that the non-availability of Baba Alakyo in today’s sitting may further frustrate the commission’s assignment – whose fact finding mission will expire after the appearance of the spiritual head of Ombatse group.
