Tragedy struck on Friday near the popular Isiala Ngwa junction on the ever busy Enugu – Port Harcourt as armed robbers blocked the road and dispossessed some policemen and other passengers of cash and .mobile phones.

The policemen were said to be on their way to Umuahia for a verification exercise at the state command headquarters when the commercial bus in which they were traveling in, ran into the armed robbers.

247ureports.com gathered that on getting to the stretch between Uratta and Amorji Ntigha, a stone throw from the Isiala Ngwa junction, the commercial bus was attacked by the armed robbers wielding locally made short guns.

The robbers, who were said to have ransacked the bus, however did injure any of the passengers, including the policemen as they left them to continue the journey after dispossessed them of their valuables.

However, nemesis caught up with the criminals when a patrol team from Police Mobile Force (PMF) 55 Squadron,Aba was alerted and they later arrested two of the criminals.

One Emeka Chibuzor and another, whose identity was not disclosed as at press time, were members of the gang.

Abia State Commissioner of police, Usman Tilli Abubarkar who confirmed the incident, said investigations were going on while the two suspects would be charged to court.
