My dear people of Nasarawa State.
On this blessed occasion of the 2013 Eid-el-Kabir festival, I wish, on
behalf of the Government and good people of the state, to congratulate
and felicitate with the state Chairman of Jama’atul Nasril Islam, the
Ulama and the entire Muslim Ummah as we celebrate this important
festival.
2. The feast of Eid-el-Kabir marks the submission by Prophet Ibrahim
(A.S.) to the test of faith and obedience to the command of Allah.
Allah demands of all Muslims in like manner to demonstrate the spirit
of sacrifice and obedience to the teachings of Prophet Mohammad
(S.A.W). I therefore urge all Muslims to celebrate the festival by
reaffirming our obedience to the injunctions of the Almighty Allah as
contained in the Holy Qur’an and the Hadith.
3. Islam teaches peace, good neighbourliness and kindness. We should
therefore use this occasion to continue to reflect on the virtues of
love, harmony peaceful co- existence, understanding and respect for
one another at all times. We should also sustain our prayers and
commitment for the peace, progress and development of Nasarawa State
in particular and Nigeria in general.
4. To our Brothers and Sisters who are currently performing the Holy
Pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, I pray that the Almighty Allah will
accept their Hajj and reward their acts of worship. It is also my
prayers that Allah will grant them journey mercies as they return
home at the end of the pilgrimage.
5. I must remind us all that during festive periods like this, our
roads will be busy with human and vehicular traffic. Let me therefore
call on all road users to be cautions and to always obey traffic
regulations in order to avoid unnecessary accidents.
6. I wish us all a happy, peaceful and joyous celebration.
