Bishop of Aba Ngwa Diocese of the Anglican Church, Nigeria, Rt. Rev. Nathan Kanu has advocated for prominent roles to be given to religious leaders during the National Conference.
Kanu who stated this while addressing journalists in Aba to mark the first session of the 3rd synod of the diocese with the theme, “Hypocrisy – a thorn in the flesh” said since Nigerians has for long agitated for the convocation of a national conference, they should support the president to ensure a successful conference.
“Since citizens of the country have clamoured for a national conference for so long. The president has taken the right step; everything should be put in place to make the conference succeed”.
The cleric who posited that since the church remains the conscience of the society, there is a great to allow its leaders to be fully involved in the confab. Kanu who lamented that hypocrisy has affected all sectors of the country including the church, called for the election of the right people into leadership positions.
He blamed leaders for not being sincere in the use of Nigeria’s God given resources to better the lot of the citizenry, stressing that the followership has also failed to make leaders account for their undoing.
