All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), South African Chapter has called on the people of Anambra Sate to support the party’s candidate, Chief Willie Maduabuchi Obiano, in the November 16 gubernatorial election in the state.

In a statement endorsed by Nwoye Emejuru and Odinaka C. A, Secretary and Chairman respectively, APGA, South Africa chapter said it was mobilizing support for Obiano to ensure continuity in the state.

“Continuity is the order of this November 2013 Anambra State gubernatorial elections as the current APGA administration as humbly led by his Excellency; Dr. Peter Obi has set a standard only very few can come close to and only an APGA product can sustain.”

The statement posited that Dr. Peter Obi had acquitted himself well as a prudent manager of Anambra’s scarce resources, adding that he had put the state in a very sound footing.

“With the performance of his Excellency and the kind of leader that he is, a standard has been instituted for continuity. Many people in Anambra State and beyond have unconsciously gravitated to Governor Obi’s style of leadership and wish that anyone that succeeds him possesses many of those traits and today, APGA insist that there can never be any such successor other than Chief Willie Maduabuchi Obiano.

“The people of Anambra state should vote for the APGA candidate based on equity and fairness in that over the years, Anambra North had not produced a governor for the state.

“Our resolve on equity and fairness informs the choice of Obiano and all Anambra citizens can attest that Anambra North Senatorial Zone that remains the “food basket” of the State and a zone where Anambra owes her status as the 10th Oil Producing State in Nigeria has never produced a governor both in the old and new Anambra State.”

The statement urged the people to vote for the APGA candidate as a way of posthumously honouring the national leader of the party and Eze Igbo Gburugburu, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
