Two middle aged persons has been apprehended by operatives of Awgu division of the Enugu state command of the Nigeria police force over their alleged involvement in a case of attempted armed robbery.
The suspects; Chinonso Esom and Chidiebere Okoro where being ferried to Mgbowo, Agwu Local council of Enugu state on a motorcycle at about 6.58 pm when suddenly the occupants pulled out a gun an ordered the motorcyclist to surrender the key.
The incident which occurred a little after Mgbowo secondary school along Ndeabor road happened on the 27th September.
The motorcyclist, identified as Basil Sunday who remained unfazed during the incident took cognizance that the gun the suspects brandished was a toy gun and decided to wade-off the suspects from disposessing him of his motorcycle and valuables.
A fight ensued immediately while the victim raised alarm which attracted the attention of passersby who came to his rescue.
One of the suspects, Esom Chinonso took to his heels and escaped while the other, Chidiebere Okoro was nabbed.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer,Mr. Ebere Amaraizu revealed that,”the toy gun used in the operation has been recovered though damaged. Suspects will be prosecuted once investigation is complete”.
