*berates LG polls inconsistency

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah has promised to pay all attention necessary to industrial harmony and peace in the state when he assumes power if elected.

Ubah, who stated this at the Anambra state headquarters of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC in a courtesy call yesterday promised to pay the workers living wage, far above the popular Minimum wage.

He said he was at the NLC office to formally present his campaign manifesto to the labour chiefs, who he described as part of his campaign movement. He said he therefore want to use the opportunity alsio to invite them to his official flag-off tomorrow in Onitsha.

Expressing happiness for the opportunity to be at the labour office, Ubah lamented the ramshackle plac the NLC uses as its state headquarter, pointing out that it clearly shows the level of disdain to which the outgoing administration in the state holds its workers. He said that as a result he need not ask whether thee workers have been carried along or properly taken care of because their submissions have said enough.

The LP standard bearer emphasized that his campaign has pleasant working relationship with all the stakeholders who are participating in the November 16, 2013 governorship election in the state. These include the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,; the police, the electorate comprising the workers, business class and every citizen of the state.

He however acknowledged that he only have some issues with the state”s independent electoral\ commission, ANSIEC especially in the way they have been handling the issue of Local govt election in the state. He accused the commission of high level inconsistency, a ploy every stakeholder believes does not augur well for the polity. According to him, the LP is fully prepared for the council election, but that since it has now been postponed it would avail him time to concentrate on the preparations for the guber election.

On his relationship with other candidates Dr Ubah who stormed the NLC offices with key directors in his Campaign organization said it has remained cordial. He appealed to them to remain level headed. He urged citizens to assess each candidate”s antecedents, employment records/ratings and other such indices to critically assess their suitability for the plum job.

Ubah therefore suggested for a round table debate for the governorship candidates as another avenue for the electorates to assess them, ahead the election.
