A member of Okpoko vigilance group, identified as Stubborn was gunned down today by a gang of dare devil robbers operating in motorbikes at Mugambo Market , Okpoko , Ogbaru local government area. Information available to 247ureports.com indicated that the robbers pursued the deceased from Elephant building where their office is located to his security post. The window of the compound where he ran into for safety did not allow him jump through.
The robbers rode on motorbikes. They entered the compound and shot sporadically on the door. The door was pulled off completely from the wall. They then shot ‘stubborn’ severally on the head, chest and emptied an entire magazine on him before leaving him.
According to an eye witness account, it took the combined effort of the SARS Okpoko led by DSP Anthony Ogah and the Okpoko vigilance with information provided by MASSOB members to unravel the mystery of the armed invasion and killing.
The eyewitness stated that one person arrested had been handed over to the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) at its headquarters Awkuzu. According to the police, the arrested suspect has been helping the police with information.
Meanwhile, there appear tension along Obodoukwu road , new haven Okpoko, Ogbaru local government area near Onitsha when members of the Movement of the Sovereign state of Biafra apparently in pursuit of some criminal stormed the Elephant House and later drove off in many motorbikes.
A legal practitioner whose office is located near the crime since along Obodoukwu road, Chief S.O Abuchi commended the police, the vigilance group and MASSOB for assisting the Okpoko community in unraveling its security challenges.
He said MASSOB has been helping out in the security challenges of the people of Okpoko in many ways to the extent that the people are seeing MASSOB as taking over charge of security in Okpoko but “I see it as complimenting the efforts of the security agencies and vigilance group. The young men are more daring and can go at any extent to fish criminals out of their hideout”.
