Twenty four out of the 3,000 beneficiaries of the Subsidy Re-Investment Programme (SURE-P) Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme in Ekiti State are currently undergoing two-weeks training, as a prelude to their empowerment by the Federal Government.

Chairman and Coordinator of the State Implementation Committee, Rt. Hon. Femi Akinyemi, who made this known in a release issued in Ado-Ekiti today, said each of the twenty four beneficiaries will be provided with fund to start their chosen enterprise.

Akinyemi said not less than 24 youths in each of the 36 States of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory are benefiting from the scheme.

He expressed gratitude to President Goodluck Jonathan for the kind gesture, saying; “No doubt, Ekiti youths are enjoying the transformation agenda of Mr President and we can’t but keep appreciating him.”

“As at today, there are about 1,000 youths from the 36 States of the federation and the FCT that are being trained in various entrepreneur skills in Abuja now.

“24 of the beneficiaries are from Ekiti State and they were selected from the beneficiaries of the Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme that are already being paid N10, 000 stipend per month.

“The 24 youths from Ekiti are among the first batch of the beneficiaries for the second leg of the SURE-P Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme, and there is assurance that the second batch will be selected very soon.

“After the training, which is at no cost to the beneficiaries, the Federal Government wil empower them to start their own trade so that they can be self-reliant and also become employers of labour,” Akinyemi said.
