Chief Ralph Uwazurike, former leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has since completed his assignment in the MASSOB project. He is now Peace Envoy of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN).
This revelation was made recently in an interview session with the National President of BILIE Human Rights Initiative, Engineer Amadi Innocent Obinna. Commenting further he said:”For me, the Ralph Uwazurike-led MASSOB is better known as “Movement for the Awareness of the Sovereign State of Biafra”. The actualization of the project was not part of Uwazurikes’s agenda.
The BILIE President said:”What Ralph Uwazuruike is doing now shows that he has gone back to the oppressors. Can you imagine that he is now a Peace Ambassador to the Nigerian Government? How can you claim to be working for the actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra and yet you are working for the Nigerian Government?
Engineer Amadi says that ”BILIE has since been registered with the United Nations Organization (UNO). BILIE has come to actualize Biafra. BILIE came in as a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) by going through the normal process of registering with the UNO as well as in Nigeria”. He said:”After one year of registration, BILIE took the FGN to court as a first step to actualizing BIAFRA”.
Engineer Amadi said:”BILIE s winning the case. The court set aside the application filed by the Federal Government to strike out the case on the grounds of lack of jurisdiction as well as reasons bordering on some minor technicalities. The court ruled that we have powers to sue having been registered as a Human Rights Institution. So, we have won the case on jurisdiction. The court also allowed us to effect some minor amendments bordering on technicalities. The major obstacles have been overcome and we are waiting on the court to give us a date of hearing. This will be done once the courts resume from vacation”.
Speaking on the Charter of Equity summit which some politicians held in IMO State recently, he said:”The whole idea of Charter of Equity in IMO State is meaningless. They want the masses to endorse an arrangement which will enable the top members of the political class to loot the treasury of the State in turns, one after the other. We want the best candidate to win and not just a pretender who is there because it is the turn of his zone to steal. Excerpt of the interview is published for your perusal.
