Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has enjoined Muslims and Nigerians in general to pray for the country to enable it overcome the current security challenges.
In a goodwill message to Muslims in the State in commemoration of this year’s Eid-el-Fitri celebrations, the Governor called for prayers and vigilance on the part of Nigerians noting that it was necessary to overcome the security challenges facing the country.
According to him, if the security problems were resolved Nigeria and Nigerians would be better positioned to achieve their goals of peace, unity and progress and thereby enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of the citizenry.
“I call on all Deltans and Nigerians in general to use the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri to pray for the country to overcome the security challenges facing it. It is only when peace reigns that Muslims and adherents of other religions can contribute to the social and economic development of the country”, he stated.
Besides, Governor Uduaghan urged the Muslim Ummah to show love for others and live a life of sharing and caring stressing that in line with the gospel of love and peace preached by Islam, Muslims and indeed all Nigerians should remain steadfast in their public and private lives.
He commended Muslims in the State for their unflinching support for his administration through prayers, counsel and robust participation in governance, and assured that his administration will not disappoint the people of the State.
In particular, the Governor said that the Government was committed to the goal of improving the standard of living of the people especially through the execution of projects and policies that will impact positively on their lives.
Also, he urged all Muslims to allow the lessons of humility, sacrifice, love and selfless service to guide their activities as they celebrate the Eid-el-Fitri.
