The Anambra state governor Mr Peter Obi may have concluded plans to
give back Mr Oseloka Obaze his job as the Secretary to the state Government(SSG), following his early exit from the 2014 governorship
race when he failed the party’s screening test at the weekend.
Obaze who was one of the frontliners in the Anambra Governorship race
on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA),
earlier resigned his appointment rather abruptly without proper
procedures on Wednesday only to be disqualified less than 48 hours
later has however accepted his disqualification in good fate.

Feelers from the Anambra Government House indicated that the governor
may give him a soft landing, by reappointing him back to his seat.

Mr Obaze who is the elder brother to the immediate past former Commissioner of Local Government /Chieftaincy Matters in the state, Mr
Dubem Obaze was disqualified alongside the latest entrant to APGA and
former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof Chukwuma Soludo,
Mr Emma Nweke, Dr Chike Obidigbo and one Mr Chinedu Idigo.

Reactions to their disqualification had been mixed, as they were
hitherto seen as the key aspirants whose presence in the line-up was
expected to ensure continuous sparks in works of the party.

Unfortunately their ouster had been accepted and ratified by the
appeal panel of the party, thereby sealing their fate to proceed
further on the platform of the party, at this time, permanently.

While acknowledging his fate, Mr Obaze stated, “I have been advised
that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Governorship Appeal
Panel upheld the decision of Governorship Screening Panel to
disqualify me on what was a mere technicality of not having a voter’s
card. I note that the Appeal Panel in its wisdom deemed it proper to
affirm the Screening Committee’s decision despite the compelling
evidence of the extenuating circumstances presented to them in my
case. This decision by the Appeals Panel brings to an end the process
of my candidacy for the Governorship of Anambra State.

“I am immensely grateful to my family, friends, staff and all those
who offered their support and prayers and thank especially, H.E. Gov.
Peter Obi for his support”, Obaze continued.

He however wished the other lucky ones well in their campaign,
pointing out that he would support them.
