Jigawa Registers 6000 People Living With HIV/AIDS

The Jigawa State Agency for the Control of HIV/Aids (JISACA) said it
has so far registered 6000 people living with HIV/AIDS in the state.
This was disclosed by the JISACA Executive Secretary,Dr.Bashir Ahmed,
while speaking at the election of the state chapter of Network of
People living with HIV/AIDS in Dutse today.

โ€œWe have registered 6000 PLWHA in Jigawa State, out of this number 50
persons benefited with six months skills acquisition training after
which we gave them N100,000 each as a capital grand for the take up of
their business.
โ€œ16 health facilities in the state are rendering free and
comprehensive HIV and AIDs services to those living with disease. We
are appealing to religious and traditional ruler to enlighten their
people to visit any nearest designated health facilities for HIV
testing and counselingโ€ he said

The newly elected officers of the network of people living with
HIV/AIDs are Ahamed Chiroma as state coordinator, Yamusa Idris deputy
state coordinator, Murtala Abubakar secretary general, Umma Usaini
Gumel deputy secretary general, Hauwa Ismaโ€™il treasure.

Others elected include Zaharaโ€™u Yakubu financial secretary, Abubakar
Muhammad welfare officer, Basira Yahayu Shehu and Zaharadden Ahamed
were elected as PRO I and II respectively.
