Information available to 247ureports.com indicates that the ill health of the Emir of Kano may have worsened beyond what the general public is aware of. For this year’s festivities, the Emir who away outside the country for medical reasons – caused the religious rites to be celebrated without the normal Durbar pageantry associated with the festival.
Speaking on the lukewarm Salah celebration was the Wambai of Kano who also serves as a Senior Counselor in the Emirate, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi revealed that all traditional activities marking the end of the Ramadan fast and the Eid-il-Fitr celebrations will not be observed this year due to the Boko Haram induced insecurity and chiefly due to the poor health of the Emir.
While making the revelations to the press, Alhaji Sanusi called on the various District Heads to not relent – but to keep their celebrations “low key”. He directed the District Heads to converge at the Emir’s Palace on the third day for the normal Sallah Homage to Governor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso at the Government House.
