A self-confessed Zanu PF mole who is causing political havoc for the party on social networking site Facebook has claimed that President Robert Mugabe’s health “has shockingly deteriorated today” and an emergency meeting was called in order to discuss his health.
Mugabe’s ailments include periodic convulsions and stroke like episodes (perhaps eschemia) brought on by diabetes and a lipid disorder which affects the covering of the brain
Baba Jukwa who claims to be a dissatisfied Zanu PF member and has attracted more than 230 000 followers on Facebook says “the fact that we have got a few days left to go for elections has stressed the president to the extent that he had to visit a doctor at Avenues Clinic for an urgent check-up.”
To make his point Baba Jukwa even supplied the name and phone number of the receptionist at the principal director’s office at State House, one Nyarai Makuvaza, presumably for anyone with doubts to call up and cross check.
Last month presidential spokesman George Charamba claimed Mugabe jetted to Singapore, on the 25th of June, for a “routine eye check”. But it’s widely known that the ‘eye check-up’ line is really a euphemism for cancer treatment in Singapore.
Two years ago the whistleblowing website WikiLeaks released a 2008 US diplomatic cable saying central bank chief Gideon Gono had told then-US ambassador James McGee that Mugabe had prostate cancer and had been advised by doctors he had less than five years to live (which is up to 2013).
Grace Mugabe, the leader’s wife, also told Gono that her spouse was “out of it about 75% of the time”, according to one cable. “The governor confided that Mugabe appeared to be deteriorating mentally and losing his capacity to balance factional interests,” wrote the ambassador. “She wanted him to step down.”
Mugabe’s health has been cited as one of the reasons that a faction of his Zanu PF party pushed aggressively to have early elections.
Meanwhile Baba Jukwa has warned the opposition parties that if they don’t unite to unseat Mugabe, a faction in Zanu PF led by army General Constantine Chiwenga, was plotting military rule to avoid being jailed for crimes against humanity.
The Baba Jukwa Facebook page, created on the 22nd of March 2013, has been a constant thorn in the flesh of Zanu PF. Everyday Zanu PF secrets are dished out while those involved in murder, rape and abductions are also being exposed.
Youth and Empowerment Minister Savior Kasukuwere, with a notorious history of sponsoring and taking part in political violence in Mt Darwin, recently admitted he receives at least 50 telephone calls a day in which he is either insulted, or his mother is at the receiving end.
Kasukuwere said the insults were also taking a toll on his children. “They go to school, and somebody is saying, [Baba Jukwa says your father this and that]—look at the emotional stress. It’s a price we have to pay for our country.” See: Zimbabwe Wall of Shame: Savior Kasukuwere
