*as Enyioha flags-off guber bid
Just as the dust over last week’s release of time table for the Oct 5, 2013 proposed Local Government election in Anambra was yet to settle, the Peoples Democratic Party in Awka flagged off its campaigns.
Also, one of the key aspirants in the 2014 governoship bid in the state, Chief Ugochukwu Okeke, popularly known in political circles as “Enyioha” concurrently formally launched his interest at the party state office in Awka.
The state chairman of the PDP, Prince Ken Emeakayi who announced readiness of the party to “play along” with the Gov Peter Obi administration on the issue to know if things would remain realistic. He used the occasion of Okeke’s declaration of interest in the governorship contest, to urge all the PDP councillorship candidates to get prepared.
He said that despite being very belated, the party would get ready and play along in the interest of peace and democracy in the state.
He encouraged Okeke to step up action in the guber race so that PDP would recapture the number saet in the state.
Okeke in his declaration remarks described himself as the face of new generation with burning zeal to take the state to the next level.
He told the crowd of supporters who thronged the Udoka Estate office of the party yesterday that he has no money or godfather but banks on the people’s support. And that he was poised to change the status quo and give the state its much-needed development.
