The Northern Governor’s forum under the leadership of the chief servant of Niger state Dr. Babangida Aliyu has donated one hundred million (100) naira to the Nasarawa state Government.
The leader of the nineteen Northern states under the northern governor’s forum, Governor Aliyu and his Jigawa state counterpart, Sule Lamido, Kaduna state Governor, Ramalan Yero, Katsina state, Shehu Shema [who was ably represented by his Deputy] paid an august visit to Nasarawa State.
The Governors who represented the nineteen Northern Governors – registered their condolences with Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura – over the mass killings and maiming of security personnel in Alakyo community. Babangida Aliyu commended the state Governor for setting up a commission of Inquiry over the killings in the state.
Dr. Aliyu advised his Nasarawa counterpart, Governor Al-Makura to be wary of desperate politicians in the state. In his words, “he added that nobody even in the advanced countries kills security and goes free, charging his Nasarawa counterpart to take a proactive measure in tackling the security situation in the state – what affect one of us affect affects the entire forum“.
“As the chief executive of the state – you have the power and right to proscribe any organization that harbors militia group”, said Babangida Aliyu.
Governor Al-Makura commended the forum for their brotherliness, saying any person found wanting in the report will be punished appropriately by the law. He added that those behind the Ombatse militia cult will never go scot free from their evil plot. “Nasarawa state is known as a peaceful state until the recent activities of evil merchant killing scores of security agents“
He pointed out that the state Government has adopted a Community Based Conflict Management with an aimed of bringing an end to communal and ethnic violence.
The emir of Lafia and chairman council of chief, Dr.Isa Mustapha Agwai lauded the visiting Governors for commiserating with the people of Nasarawa – calling on the people of Nasarawa state and the nation as a whole to pray fervently for the survival and existence of the nation – describing peace as an essential artery for rapid transformation.
