Night Rainstorm Destroys 1,000 Houses In Jigawa

An overnight heavy Rain storm has destroyed over one thousand houses in Mallam madori town of Hadejia emirate council in Jigawa state.

The rain storm which lasted for about one hour and 20 minutes also destroyed electrical Installations and trees, leaving the town in total blackout – a situation which led several people to seek refuge at their neighbor’s house – while others migrated away in search for safety.

The affected areas include Kamfala, Dunari ,Sirinya, Sabon gari and some parts of the primary health center and civil defense office.

It was reliably gathered by that thousands of people were reported camping at government house accommodation.

Our correspondent observed that some of the affected people relocated to schools and other places in the town while majority of the business activities were closed.

The council chairman Alhaji Haruna Abdullahi had paid a sympathy visit to the affected communities. He said the council will set up a committee to assist the victims.
