News Express gathered that the five-man kidnap gang stormed  Nkwelle Umunachi community in Idemili Local Government Area at about  8:30 p.m. on Saturday in an L300 Mitsubishi bus. However, after  abducting their victim, their vehicle failed to start.
On sighting an on-coming vehicle, they flagged it down and after  pulling out the driver simply identified as Oba, shot him and fled with  his car.
In the ensuing confusion, the kidnapped person took to his heels,  prompting the kidnappers to fire at him and injuring him in the process.
The sound of the gun attracted residents of the area who rescued the  wounded man, while the suspected kidnappers fled in the snatched  vehicle.
Similarly, in Fegge area of the commercial city of Onitsha, a woman  was kidnapped in her house in the early hours of Sunday while getting  ready for church service.
The state police command however says it is not yet aware of the  incidents even as it expressed worry about the rising cases of  kidnapping in the state, especially within the Onitsha axis.
