God is Behind Amaechi, Says Senator Abe
The chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Hon. Welendu Amadi, has described as hired thugs the protesters who held hostage the Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Governors Babangida Aliyu, Sule Lamido, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Mutala Nyako at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.
The Governors had arrived at the airport on the platfrom of PDP governors to pay Amaechi a solidarity visit, but were prevented from leaving the VIP area of the airport for almost one hour.
The council boss said the protesters were rented to throw the state into crisis, and vowed that the Governor’s supporters would not tolerate such political gang-up against the governor.
The council boss also described the demonstration at the airport as an embarrassment to the state.
Amadi, who went to the airport with supporters to the airport, in solidarity with the governor, noted that Amaechi has done so much for the state and does not deserve such treatment.
He said the protesters acted under the instructions from their paymasters to undermine the governor’s achievements.
He said: “Amaechi has brought development in Rivers State; they should stop delaying his developmental strides in Rivers State. We will not tolerate any longer any man that deems it necessary to be misbehaving; we will not give that room again; enough is enough.
“Amaechi has done enough for Rivers State, Amaechi has brought peace to Rivers State, Amaechi has brought development in Rivers State, on that ground nobody shall bring Rivers State backward”.
The pro-Amaechi crowd of loyalists carried placards with such inscriptions as: “We are proud of Amaechi”, “Without Amaechi, no Rivers State”, “Amaechi, we love you”, “Amaechi our man”, among others.
Meanwhile, the Senator representing Rivers South-East in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe has appealed to the people of the state not to be distracted by the situation, just as he urged them to continue to support the governor.
He also said that administration of Governor Chibuike Amaechi was ordained by God and cannot be removed from office irrespective of the opposition’s plot to remove him, and urged youths in the state to avoid politicians who intend to use them to unleash mayhem in the state.
The chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), noted such politicians want to achieve their personal interest.
Abe, who spoke at Bori, headquarters of Khana Local Government Area of the state, said the God that brought Amaechi to power would continue to guide and strengthen his administration.
The senator said; “We are at a time when politicians of all shades are going around collecting young people, collecting peoples’ children, daughters and sons to help them pursue their personal ambitions or their public aspirations.
“I want to say clearly that gathering people to support you is all politics is all about and we will gather people to support us. If you see anybody who is calling you, buying you guns, machetes, giving you something to take so that he can be something, those are evil people”.
“Anybody who loves you and is calling you at this time should call you in a manner that what he is calling you for will be good for you today and god for you tomorrow. Nobody should call you and say you are a youth, come and fight, come and kill somebody. Come and attack House of Assembly come and attack this one.”
“Nobody should confuse you; the most important thing that we need to teach in this country now is mathematics because some of the things we have been doing as leaders is beginning to confuse some of the young people. They don’t know what mathematics is anymore and they don’t know what total is greater than the other”.
“Now governors who are ruling states in this country, who have the authority to sign death warrants, who can make things move and they move and cannot count, then, we have a problem.
“My father was a member of the House of Assembly and when the House wanted to impeach Okilo, they needed two-third majority and everybody know what two-third majority is. They were struggling to get that number. Nobody ever thought that politicians will go and take an incomplete number and say that is the number. It wasn’t done in this country.”
