The northern region of Nigeria continues to exhibit traits of insecurity induced by the proliferation of the Jihadist based violent group, the Boko Haram. Information available to 247ureports.com indicates that the security agents based in the Kano/Jigawa region netted the seizure of weapons cache and the killing of 3 members of the Jihadist group – in a pre-dawn raid inside the Guri Local Government Council of Jigawa state.
This was made known through a press statement made available to our 247ureports.com – signed by the spokesman of 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Captain Ikedichi Iweha.
The statement revealed that dangerous items were recovered during the operation in the house where the Jihadists resided. The recovered weapons comprised of four AK 47 Rifles, five Magazines, 164 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunitions for AK 47 Rifles.
According to the statement, “the JTF on Tuesday 16 July, following extensive intelligence build up, a combined team of the JTF involving the NA of the 3 Brigade in Kano and the Kano State DSS conducted a pre dawn raid at a house occupied by members of the terrorist group in Abunabu village of Guri Local Government Council, Jigawa State.
“You may recall that the JTF had earlier warned following the declaration of a state of emergency in some parts of the North East region of the country, that some fleeing elements of the terrorist network out of the region, following ongoing military action against them, will be seeking refuge in other parts of the country especially areas with little security presence.
“Be rest assured that the JTF will not rest on its oars in ensuring the safety of the good people of Jigawa State and the States within the area of operational responsibility of the Brigade. To forestall any attempts by terrorists to hibernate in local government councils, the JTF has increased the number of its personnel in towns in addition to increasing the number of patrols especially in identified flash points.
