Okorocha Pays Condolence To Police, DSS Over Nasarawa Massacre Of Personnel, Donates N200,000 to each family

The Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has condoled the Nigerian Police
Force and Department of Security Services over the recent killing of their
personnel by a militia group in Nasarawa state.

Governor Okorocha, who paid an unscheduled visit to Police and DSS command in
Owerri, expressed his heart-felt condolences to the Inspector General of Police
and Director-General of DSS as well as the families of the deceased over the
unfortunate incident that claimed the lives of their love ones.

He extolled the gallantry, patriotism and dedication of the deceased in serving
their fatherland, adding that with such display of uncommon commitment to duty,
they had sacrificed their lives for peace and stability of the Nigerian nation.

While lamenting on the level of insecurity in some part of the country, Gov.
Okorocha urged federal government as a matter of urgency, to come up with an
acceptable and better condition of service for security personnel owing to the
hazard that associates with their job.

Gov. Okorocha urged officers and men of both security agencies to remain
resolute, focused and committed to their responsibility and avoid being
discourage in the fight against terrorism and crime such as kidnapping and
armed robbery.

He also enjoined them to always see their job as a selfless sacrifice towards
protecting their fatherland, adding that his administration will remain
committed in partnering with security agencies in the fight against crime.

Gov. Okorocha, however, called on well-meaning Nigerians to come to the
assistance of the affected families as a way of giving them succor and
encouragement to bear the irreparable loss.

In their separate speeches, the state commissioner of Police, Alhaji Mohammed
Katsina and his counterpart in the DSS described the visit by Gov. Okorocha as
symbolic as it would encourage them in the relentless fight against crime.

They commended the governor for assisting the security agencies in the state
and promised relay his condolences to the appropriate authorities.
