The Imo state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has threatened to sack heads of the state owned parastatals over poor performance.
The governor, who disclosed this during a meeting with heads of some parastatals that are owing about three months staff salary, said the state government will restructure the parastatals and appoint the right persons to head them for maximum productivity.
Gov. Okorocha further disclosed that the state government would assume the responsibility to pay the workers of those affected parastatals of their salary and challenged them to be self sufficient.
He urged the parastatals to submit the names of their staff, their passports and appointment letters to enable the state government embark on verification of staff.
He assured them that his administration is determined to eradicate poverty in the state and urged workers to key into the commercialization policy of the present administration.
