Less than 15 days to the much awaited judgment of the Supreme Court in the Appeal No. SC/221/2012 filed by former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni, against the Appeal Court judgment of October 15, 2010 that removed him from office, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin has in the last few weeks been moving from one spiritualist to another.
Source disclosed that the Speaker is not fore-closing the possibility of him becoming the Ekiti State acting Governor via the Supreme Court judgment and that he (Dr Omirin) had already been assured by some of his spiritualist.
Close to N10 million is alleged to have been spent by the Speaker on spritualist.
Specifically, Segun Oni is seeking “an order setting aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Ilorin delivered on the 15th day of October, 2010 nullifying the election of the 1st Appellant as the Governor of Ekiti State.
“An order directing a fresh Panel of the Court of Appeal to hear and determine the aforesaid appeal in (ii) above de novo.
“An order directing the Honourable Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly to take over the governance of Ekiti State pending the hearing and determination of the appeal in (ii) above by the Court of Appeal.”
At the last hearing of the case on March 4, 2013 where all parties adpted their written addresses, the Supreme Court adjourned till May 31, 2013 for judgment.
“The Speaker has been told by his spiritualist that Governor Kayode Fayemi will be removed and that the Supreme Court will order a fresh election to be conducted within 90 days, and that the Speaker will be made Acting Governor,” our source said.
A very close aide of the Speaker and an elderly man from the Speaker’s Local Council, Gbonyin, who is the Chairman of an agency of the State Government are the arrowheads of the spiritual moves.
While the old man is in charge of traditional spiritualist (Babalawo), the aide is taking care of Prophets and Alfas.
The source said of a Prophet Celestial Church located in Ekute area , Ado-Ekiti popularly known as Prophet Eleboda had assured the Speaker that; “The crown is already on your head and we only need more prayers so that he does not fall off before May 31.”
“It was this same Prophet that Dr Omirin ran to for help early this year when he was faced with impeachment threat over his amorous relationship with the House former Chief Whip, Mrs Wunmi Ogunlola and the N55 million Christmas gift Scandal.
“The Speaker was introduced to the Celestial Church (Royal Parish) by Hon. Folorunso Ogundele from Efon-Alaaye, who is a Senior Evangelist in the Church.
“Also, I am aware that two traditional spiritualist (one from Irun-Akoko and another from Ijan-Ekiti) have assured the Speaker. The two ‘Babalawos’ are being liaised with by a leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) from Aisegba-Ekiti, the Speaker’s hometown.”
Our source further revealed that the Speaker was not looking in the direction of benefiting from the Supreme Court case before until his wife, Chioma, his Personal Assistant, Sanmi Adeeko and another of his close aide, who is from Ijan-Ekiti impressed it upon him.
“Since he bought into the scheme, the Speaker has never looked back.
“Though all his moves are shrouded in secrecy, he has not taking the spiritual angle with levity, with close to N10 million already gone into all kinds of spiritual arrangements,” the source said.
