The Ndigbo Peace Movement (NPM) has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to grant traders standing trail on threat to former NAFDAC boss, Prof. Dora Akunyili, pardon on health grounds.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen by the movement in Onitsha, Anambra.
The statement was signed by Chief Uzor A. Uzor, President-General of the movement.
“The fact of the matter is that we reliably gathered that the health condition of the two detained persons, standing trial before the Supreme Court, Abuja is deteriorating.
“We leant that Mr. Olisaemeka Igbokwe is suffering severe stomach ulcer and chest pain.
“While Mr. Chris Mbah is also suffering another serious illness; which laboratory result is been awaited.
“Having spent too long a time in the course of their trial; NPM is calling on President Jonathan in the interest of the Christmas and New Year celebrate to grant them state pardon.
“In order for Mr. Olisaemeka Igbokwu’s father, who is about 93 years, to see the son once more before he departs the mother earth.
“Since one of the accused, Mr. Jude a.k.a Agada, was granted express discharge and acquittal last week by the Supreme Court,’’ it said.
