Abia state Commissioner of Police, Usman Abubakar has called on individuals, communities and the general public to cooperate with the police in fighting crime in the state by giving useful information that would help the police work efficiently and urged Abians to expect a new change in police performance in the state.
“The public should provide useful information to the police. This is the only way we can work efficiently, we are not spirits; people should report criminals and their activities. I assure you that such persons will be protected. Security should be everybody’s business because when there is problem it affects everyone,” he said.
Usman in a telephone interview with our correspondent said his administration would ensure that peace reigns in the state during his tenure as the police boss as he will be more committed to tackling crime in the state
The CP stated his readiness to chase criminals out of the state as well as pursue vigorously the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar’s transformation agenda geared towards restructuring and restoring the image of the force which has been severed by bad eggs within the Force.
“I will ensure that the IGP’s agenda of transforming the Nigerian Police is fully implemented. If the public sees any sign of bad conduct among my men, let them get the number and name of the police officer and forward it to me. My phone number is everywhere. I want to ensure that people will go to their normal duties without any hindrance or fear of being kidnapped,” he said.
The CP while appreciating the drop in crime rate in the state added that the police would continue to partner with sister security agencies to sustain the fight against criminals.

Speaking on the development, a police source at the Aba Area Command who spoke on the condition of anonymity hinted that men and officers of the Command were combat ready to cue with CP Abubakar’s vision in tackling criminality in the state and attributed the success recorded so far in fighting crime in Aba to the high sense of professionalism exhibited by men of the Command.
