Nigerian Navy docks 33 sea pirates in Rivers State

The Nigerian Naval Ship NNS Pathfinder in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has handed over thirty three suspected oil bunkers and sea pirates to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps for prosecution.

The commanding Officer of NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Duja Effeduwa said the suspects were arrested three days ago along the water creeks in Bonny, Rivers State.

Commodore Duja Effeduwa also said the command has impounded a vessel named Divine Favour used in recieving stolen crude oil and destroyed over fifty illegal bunkering sites and over one hundred and fifty drums load with illegal refined oil in the last one month.

The officer in charge of operations, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Muhammed Paiko said the thirty three suspects will be charged to court next week.

Some of the suspects arrested said the unemployment situation in the country pushed them into the illegal act.
