The newly formed mega opposition party-All Progressives Congress(APC) has been described as panacea to giving the youth of Nigeria a proper and committed sense of direction and belonging.
This indication was given in Awka by Senator Annie Okonkwo at the maiden Youth Summit held at the Emmaus House grounds, Awka, yesterday.
Senator Okonkwo who was the chief Guest Speaker to the summit, berated the situation of things in the country today especially as it affects the youth. He pointed out that the governments at different levels have been paying mere lip service to the welfare and future of the youth.
He lamented that governments had abused, neglected and manipulated them, which has rendered many undiscovered talents into outlaws. He therefore called for the concerted efforts to be championed by Annie Okonkwo Youth Vanguard to discover the Bill Gates of Nigeria among our youth.
He urged the youth to propel a change of leadership in the state through the ballot, for people with the love and drive for youth empowerment and upliftment.
He told the mammoth crowd that it was to give and restore hope to the youth and give Nigerians a new lease of life that led to the emergence of APC.
The former House of Representatives candidate in the 2011 general elections for Njikoka/Dunukofia/Anaocha, Chief Ben Igwedibia urged the delegates to embrace the new movement with commitment. While the former council chairman of Onitsha South, Chief Ezeobi Okpala made a presentation by the Anambra Political Forum.
A lecturer, Ugo Abba urged the youth to embrace only programme that would harmonize their energy, resources, and inquisitive minds for better future.
