A magistrate court in Port Harcourt has freed seven suspects arrested in connection with the killing of four students of the University of Port Harcourt, in Umuokiri, Aluu in October last year.
The Chief magistrate Emmanuel Woke said the seven persons including a woman, were released based on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution DPP.
The DPP told the court that the seven were victims of circumstance arrested on mere suspicion by the Police.
The DPP has however referred eleven other suspects including the paramount ruler of Umuokiri, Aluu, Alhaji Hassan Welewa and a Police sergeant to the Port Harcourt High Court to face charges on murder and negligence in the killing of the four Uniport students.
However, Police investigations revealed that the prime suspect of the killing of the four Uniport students Coxson Lelebari Lucky popularly known as Bright and others are still at large.
