In a bid to ensure that Nigeria U-12 Baseball Team performs well in
the forthcoming world cup holding in Taipei, China, the board of
Nigeria Baseball and Softball Federation has concluded plans in taking
the young lads to United States of America for a training tour ahead
of the championship.
Confirming this in the Rosebud college training camp of the national
team, the Secretary General of NBSF said that the choice of United
States was due to the professional level of the game in US adding that
since we need the best, we have to go for the best.
He said that the US training tour which is expected to come up in
early July in Washington DC will also attract other nations that are
rearing to make impact in the championship proper.
He described the training tour as the second phase of the camping
which will sharpen the skills of the lads from Nigeria to effectively
confront any team from any part of the world.
“we are sincerely doing our best here in making sure that Nigeria is
well represented in the global stage and I must tell you too that
these boys have impressed the technical official so much that they are
now being tipped as one of the favourites of the championship”
I strongly believe that those of them that will finally make it to
Taipei can boldly beat their chest and said that it’s a deserved one”
he concluded.
In his reaction, the Technical Adviser of the team, Gerard Hall said
that the team needs all the necessary exposure in order to confront
world best like United States, Taiwan, China, Venezuela and Cuba.
He called for authorities to support the baseball players to ensure
they get opportunities that baseball will give them.
“I must say that am impressed on the turn out of events here. These
young lads are really impressing me. I can bet you, they can go
places” he assured.
