Govervor of Nasarawa State, Al Makura

The Congress for Progressive Change [CPC] governor of Nasarawa State, Malam Al Makura appears burning the candle from both ends – in his efforts to stabilize the government in Nasarawa State. Information recently made available to 247ureports.com through sources conversant with the goings on in the government house of Nasarawa State, reveal that one of the sons to the 1st Lady of Nasarawa State was arrested and detained in Malaysia by the security agencies in Malaysia for possession of hard drugs and gun running.

According to the information received, the son who goes by the name, Kali Umar, who is the son of the first Lady, Hajiya Salamatu Al Makura – used to be a student at the Nasarawa State University in Keffi where he majored in Social Sciences. During his sophomore [second] year at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, his father, the governor of Nasarawa State sought admission for him at a school in Malaysia – and flew Kali Umar to Malaysia to further his studies.

The governor’s son was reported to have been arrested in the last week of June 2012 – resulting in his father cutting short a USA official trip to branch to Malaysia to attend to the case. It is uncertain to what extent the father was able to dilute the case but credible sources indicate the son to still be held in detention in Malaysia.

The details of his arrest remain foggy.

In talking with the Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the governor of Nasarawa State, Abdulhamid Kwara on Friday July 6, 2012, he declined to comment – stating that “the matter was family affair”. Other members of the Al Makura administration contact remained tight lipped on the matter. The Chief Press Secretary [CPS] pleaded to be left out of the matter.

  1. well thing worse than this happen to prominent people with good intention 4 this country that does not mean those things portray their intention for the country for in life their are time that trials come and that is not the end of life so his excellency be strong we all wish you God guide in all your undertaken

  2. May be he was initiated into drug by the junkie son of Kwankwaso, Mustapha (Magaru) Kwankwaso. He was the first to be arrested by the Malaysian anti drugs police and a prominent Kano contractor had to intervene to secure his release hence his clinching a multi billion road contract from Kwankwaso who is widely perceived to be extremely greedy and self centred. Poor brat!

  3. PRESS STATEMENT

RE: SON OF NASARAWA STATE GOVERNOR ALMAKURA ARRESTED IN MALAYSIA ON DRUGS/GUNS CHARGES
The attention of His Excellency, the Governor of Nasarawa State, has been drawn to the orchestrated serial blackmail sponsored by mischief detractors of the CPC administration and political opponents using 247ureport.com and other social websites to drive the malicious attack on the personality of the Governor, the government and people of Nasarawa State.
The detractors are at it again, using the same social website, 247ureport.com, which is championing the smear campaign to extend their propaganda to the innocent family members of the Governor with the objective of ridiculing and stigmatizing them.
According to 247ureport.com, the “governor’s son was reported to have been arrested in the last week of June 2012 – resulting in his father cutting short a USA official trip to branch to Malaysia to attend to the case. It is uncertain to what extent the father was able to dilute the case but credible sources indicate the son to still be held in detention in Malaysia.” (Sic)
The website further stated that “the details of his arrest remain foggy.” The question is, if 247ureport.com is not certain about their story, why go to the press and make it a product of public consumption? This clearly points to the ulterior motive of the publisher and grand design to accomplish their sponsor(s)’s objectives.
In view of the above, government hereby submits in strong terms that the alleged arrest and detention for drugs and gun running by the so called “Kali Umar” is completely false and a wicked fabrication by the sponsor(s) of that report.
Umar Khalid Almakura, himself at loss in Malaysia over the purported arrest and detention, has made several phone calls back home after receiving calls from his friends, to confirm the rumour making rounds in the country.
As far as government is concerned, Khalid Umar is hale and hearty and is very engaged in his academic activities down in Malaysia.
For the benefit of doubt, clarification on the matter can be obtained from either the Malaysian Embassy in Nigeria or the Nigerian Embassy in Malaysia, or any credible source.
In conclusion, government is accessible and open to constructive criticisms but vehemently opposed to cheap political blackmail, wicked and callous involvement of minor in political victimisation and stigmatisation.

    The Governor on Public Affairs
