The Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Enugu State Chapter, Elder David Aja, on Sunday extended his warm gratitude to stakeholders and members of the party in the state over the peaceful and successful conduct of Saturday’s Ward Congresses of the party across the state.
Aja who made this known in a statement issued in Enugu Sunday, said noted that the support of the stakeholders and adequate participation of the patriotic party members led to the hitch-free conduct of the Ward Congresses in which three-man delegates were elected from each of the 260 Electoral Wards towards the forthcoming party primaries.
He specially thanked the state PDP stakeholders including Group Capt. Joe Orji (rtd), Chief Dubem Onyia Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, Senator Fidelis Okoro, and Senator Jim Nwobodo for making the congresses a huge success.
Elder Aja said: “Party faithful have by this demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the strengthening of the nation’s democracy and boosting the party’s fortunes through the entrenchment of internal democracy, due process, and rule of law in the Enugu State chapter of our great party and the nation in general.

“It is also highly appreciated as an expression of loyalty, solidarity, and support for my interim leadership in line with the relevant sections of the party’s constitution and the directive of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP.
“I commend all the party faithful for their show of restraint amidst blatant provocations by elements who appear irredeemably trapped in the cesspit of impunity and lawlessness and have continued to flout the party’s constitution and the NWC’s directives on the way forward for the Enugu PDP following the resignation of the Chairman.”
The Acting Party Chairman, however, assured that the party leadership would continue to do things right, adding that a meeting of the PDP State Executive Council would be convened within the timeframe stipulated by the NWC to appoint a new Chairman in line with the party’s constitution.
Meanwhile, a stakeholder of the party in Enugu North Senatorial zone, Senator Fidelis Okoro, has commended the David Aja-led PDP Executive for the peaceful and success way Saturday’s Ward Congresses were conducted in the state.
Speaking in an interview Sunday, Senator Okoro urged other State Chapters of PDP to emulate the successes recorded by the State Party Executive in the conduct of the Congresses which were devoid of violence and squabbles usually experienced in such elections.
Senator Okoro said: “I want to commend the Enugu State PDP led by Acting Chairman, Elder David Aja for the peaceful and very successful way the Ward Congresses were conducted on Saturday. I want to congratulate the State Acting Party Chairman for the able way he has handled the congress devoid of violence and squabbles that always characterize conduct of such congresses.
“I therefore urge all PDP members in Enugu State to give the Acting Chairman the support that he requires to carry on pending when he convenes a SEC meeting to appoint a State Chairman as directed by the PDP National Working Committee, NWC.
“I participated in the Congress in my Nru Ward in Nsukka local government and the congresses were successful in the entire Nsukka local government area and Enugu North Senatorial Zone. We are indeed happy with the way the Congresses were handled by the party in the state”.
